Katie Carella: Editor & Literacy Expert
Project Background
Katie Carella has spent more than twenty years in children's book publishing, building a career defined by a belief that the right book at the right moment can turn a person into a lifelong reader. She came to me with a rich journey to share; she’d moved from publishing marketing, to a master's degree in elementary education, to the classroom, and back to publishing, where she developed formats that changed how kids learn to read.
What Katie didn't yet have was a place to tell her story. A LinkedIn profile or a work bio page couldn't hold the full picture of who she is, what she's built, or why it matters. She needed something that felt like her.
The Process
I worked closely with Katie to help her shape her story, and build a space that could hold it. My intention was to draw out what was already there — the throughline, the conviction behind her work, the personality that doesn't always survive a resume — and reflect it in a way that felt cohesive and alive, and like Katie.
The Result
Katie’s website gives her a home on the internet that is fully, recognizably hers. I loved having the opportunity to create a virtual space that represented Katie beyond what social media or a workplace bio could communicate. She and I both appreciate a good story, and the way we were able to not just tell hers, but show it, was a pleasure to take on together.
