    Project Background
When Alex Lyon approached me about creating a new website for The Bubble, a historic recording studio in Austin, Texas, he had a sense that his website definitely needed some tweaks, but he didn’t realize how much his entire workflow could be transformed in the process. My goal was to design a site that not only reflected the studio’s unique personality, but also streamlined his day-to-day operations, saving him time and energy for what he loved most: mastering audio.
Challenges and Approach
Understanding the Studio’s Needs
I began by getting to know Alex, his work habits, and his pain points. I learned about his inquiry and client onboarding processes, and I dug into and the ways important information about the studio was currently being shared online. Through our conversations, we came up with organic solutions that resulted in simple but impactful changes that made Alex’s work life easier.
Showcasing the Studio’s Personality
The Bubble’s charm lies in its meticulous design by architectural acoustic legend Mark Genfan, and its hidden-in-plain-sight Hyde Park neighborhood setting. I brought the studio’s warmth and character to life on the website by incorporating updated brand elements and professional photographs that highlighted its unique personality and appeal.
Streamlining Operations
I created a custom inquiry process with tailored contact forms, cutting down on unnecessary back-and-forth, and making it easier for clients to move from interest to booking.
Creating an Immersive Experience
To give potential clients a feel for the studio’s atmosphere, we embedded a playlist of music recorded in The Bubble, showcasing both the sound quality and the incredible roster of artists who had gotten the chance to record their work there.
Organizing Information
I ensured that every detail about The Bubble, from its equipment to its amenities, was easy to find, making the website a comprehensive resource for prospective clients.
The Result
The Bubble’s website became a dynamic hub that reflected the studio’s character and simplified its operations. Alex gained a professional, functional online presence that supported his business goals and freed him to focus on creating music.
This project was a pleasure to work on, not just because of the studio’s unique history and charm, but also because it gave me the opportunity to help Alex create meaningful change for himself, his team, and the many artists who came into The Bubble.
